– Be able to build up a budget as well as a mid-term plan from P&L to cash-flow statement for R&D projects
– Understand what is at stake in financial and accounting reporting (presentation of accounts and principles of French Research Tax Credit)
– Building a better partnership with R&D and innovation teams around an R&D, value innovation management model

– 5 steps: Ideation/Selection/Development/Marketing/After-sales
– Traditional approach (funnel) and recent agile methodologies
– Main steps and milestones of new product (service) development

> Accounting principles

– Accounting treatment and disclosure of R&D expenses in financial statements
– Entry tickets, co-innovation, co-development and focus on French Research Tax Credit

> Assets Valuation (integrating technical and commercial uncertainty)

– R&D key success factor and performance indicators (KPIs): financials and non- financial (Time-To-Market)
– Time tracking and hourly rates
– Workload measurement and identification of resources needed
– Focus on costs

> Business Case and valuation: traditional KPIs (NPV, IRR) and specific approach with uncertainty, risks and opportunities

> Updates/Follow-up

– Variance analysis between actual and forecast, remedial actions
– Projects costs monitoring (monitoring technical and economical performance, cost efficiency and performance of earned value, reforecast at the end of project)
